Signs Your System Is Due a Service
Clogged filters and dusty coils choke the airflow, so the unit works harder for a weaker result.
Mould and bacteria build up on the indoor coil and fan. A deep clean removes them and stops the unit blowing them round the room.
Usually a condensate drain starting to block with sludge. Clearing it at a service is far cheaper than repairing a stained ceiling.
Warranty terms from almost every manufacturer ask for an annual service record, even when the system seems to be working fine.

Every indoor and outdoor unit gets the same checklist:

Air Conditioning Servicing Questions
Once a year for most homes, ideally in spring before the hot weather. Systems running long hours in shops, offices, server rooms and kitchens benefit from a visit every six months.
Roughly an hour for each indoor unit. A unit that hasn’t been cleaned for several years can take a little longer.
Just clear the space under each indoor unit and make sure we can reach the outdoor unit. Have the remote handy so we can test every mode.
No, and a healthy system shouldn’t need one. The refrigerant circulates in a sealed circuit and isn’t used up, so low gas means there’s a leak. We’d find and repair the leak first, and quote for that separately.
For most homes, no, but skipping it can void the manufacturer warranty. Larger commercial systems holding more refrigerant must have regular leak checks by law, with records kept, and our maintenance plans cover that.
